ON-SITE OXYGEN SYSTEMS

VPSA oxygen
generation.

On-site oxygen supply for iron and steel, non-ferrous metallurgy and industrial combustion.

Discuss your requirements

THE APPLICATION

Oxygen from air.
Supply at the source.

Vacuum pressure swing adsorption separates oxygen from air using molecular sieve adsorbents. A complete package connects air supply, adsorption, vacuum regeneration and oxygen delivery.

VPSA uses low-pressure adsorption and vacuum regeneration. Multiple beds work in alternating cycles to sustain oxygen production.

THE PROCESS

A coordinated cycle.

Production and regeneration work together to sustain the oxygen supply.

01

Air supply

Filtered ambient air is supplied to the adsorption system.

02

Selective adsorption

Molecular sieves preferentially adsorb nitrogen, enriching the oxygen stream.

03

Vacuum regeneration

A vacuum system regenerates the adsorbent while the beds alternate duties.

04

Buffer & delivery

Oxygen is buffered and delivered at the pressure required by the downstream process.

TECHNOLOGY & SCOPE

Engineered as a system.

Each package needs to fit the process, site conditions and operating requirements.

01

Adsorption equipment

Axial or radial bed arrangements are selected to suit flow, pressure drop and the project layout.

02

Cycle valves & automation

Frequent-switching valves and coordinated controls manage adsorption, regeneration and oxygen delivery.

03

Plant integration

Blowers, vacuum equipment, piping, cooling, noise control and power interfaces are considered as one package.

04

Downstream oxygen supply

Required product purity, flow and battery-limit pressure define the supply scope, including oxygen boosting where specified.

BEFORE YOU SPECIFY

Common questions.

What oxygen purity can be specified?

VPSA commonly supplies oxygen in the 80–93% range. Final purity, flow and delivery pressure are defined together for the proposed system.

Is delivery pressure the same as adsorption pressure?

No. Adsorption pressure is an internal process condition. Oxygen delivery pressure is a separate requirement and may call for a downstream booster.

How should energy consumption be compared?

Use the same oxygen purity, delivery pressure, reference conditions and equipment boundary. Clarify whether the figure is per unit of product oxygen or pure oxygen equivalent.
